Turkish/American artist, researcher Asli Sonceley was born in Istanbul, in 1985. She graduated from Wesleyan University with High Honors in Film Studies and coursework in Psychology.

For a decade she serviced tech startups in user experience and user interface design at her own studio Fake Crow and co-founded the digital startup Xtensio. She later turned her focus on environmental organizations like Greenpeace, creating global campaign style guides for forests, oceans, plastic pollution, and indigenous rights.

Sonceley recently returned to art and psychology full time. She presented her research investigating the links between mental health and environmental health at the Planetary Health Alliance Annual Meeting in 2021. She attends ecology and psychology-themed artist residencies such as “Silence, Awareness, Existence” at Arteles Creative, Finland, and a virtual residency “Bodies, Fields, Waves of Attunement.”

Sonceley gave birth to two babies during the pandemic. She mothers, studies, and creates at her home studio in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles.
